Edmund was educated at Rea Street Council School, then became employed by Messrs. Lyons, the caterers. He joined the R.A.M.C. Territorial Force on 18th September 1915, and entered the war in France on 4th August 1917. He was killed at Ypres. An officer wrote: “He was a good worker and well liked by his friends here.” A comrade also wrote: “I have been with Eddie in some very hot shell fire, and never known him shirk from his duty, He was always cheerful and willing.” Edmund was the eldest son of Arthur (Pte R.A.M.C. (T.F.) and Rizpah (daughter of Henry Clark) Guy of 94 Rea Street, Birmingham
