George was 41 years and 6 months old; lived at The Poplars, Old Road, Headington, Oxford; and was a rope maker, when he enlisted on 18th October 1915. He joined the 3rd Southern General Hospital and served with them until he was posted to D Coy on 30th March 1918. He returned to the 3rd Southern General Hospital on 3rd May but was admitted in the hospital with influenza and pneumonia on 10th October. He was the son of William and Hannah Cox and husband of Mileah Cox - they had five children. [Information taken from his service record and kindly provided by Chris Ludlam]
