David George Melrose Watt was educated at the Public School in Strathdon and was at Gordon's College for a short period of time as a student in Medicine. He studied Botany and Physics. In November 1915, David enlisted into the RAMC with "K' Company and after six months training was due to go Cambridge for a three months course in Bacteriology so that he could go abroad with a Sanitary Section. Unfortunately, David succumbed to a serious illness and died in hospital at Aldershot. He was the son of Rev. William Watts of The Manse, Strathdon, Aberdeen.
