Claude was educated at St Thomas's Hospital, London - entering in 1906, he took the diplomas of M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. in 1912. He held appointments of house-surgeon at the West London Hospital and as senior obstetric house-physician at St Thomas's, and as one of the medical officers of the British Red Cross Society during the Balkan War of 1912-1913. He took a commission in the R.A.M.C. as lieutenant in the Special Reserve on 21st August 1914, then entered the war in France in 1915. He was promoted to temporary captain on 1st January 1917. Claude was reported wounded on 31st July 1917, near Wytschaete. He died of his wounds at Le Touquet on 12th August. Claude was the son of Surgeon General Sir Francis Treherne K.C.M.G; and the husband of M F Treherne of "The Chestnuts" Weybridge, Surrey.
