Other Information:

Morris lived in Reading. He entered the war in France on 16th August 1914, as part of the team for the Assistant Director of Medical Services, 1st Division. On 16th August 1915 his name was put forward to be Mentioned in Despatches by the officer commanding the 1st Field Ambulance to the Assistant Director of Medical Services, 1st Division. The citation for his Distinguished Conduct Medal reads "For gallantry and devotion to duty during the period under review. He has proved himself an experienced and efficient leader of stretcher-bearers, with excellent control over his men. He has invariably carried out whatever duties he has been called upon to perform with zeal, disregard of danger, and initiative". On 11th January 1918 he had completed 21 years service. He continued to serve after the war under the service number 7245723. In 1926 he received the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
