Other Information:Joseph attested on 8th May 1915, and was embodied into the R.A.M.C. Territorial Force - 2nd Western General Hospital, serving under the service number 330. He was 28 years and 9 months old. On 1st December 1915 he was appointed Lance Corporal (unpaid) but reverted back to the rank of private when he was transferred to serve with 3/1st East Lancs Field Ambulance on 14th March 1916, now serving under the service number 874. On 15th May 1916 he was posted to serve with 3/3rd East Lancs Field Ambulance, then on 10th January 1917 he was posted to serve with the 2/1st East Lancs Field Ambulance, and entered the war in France with this unit on 26th February 1917. Joseph's death was reported by the officer commanding the 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 1 Anzac Corps, Central Bureau on 14th November 1917. He was the son of Daniel and Esther Hurrell of Milton, Staffs; and the husband of Agnes Nellie Beilby (formerly Hurrell) of 67 Delaunay's Road, Higher Crumpsall, Manchester.
