Other Information:Harold enlisted and was embodied into the R.A.M.C. [T.F.] on 28th June 1915. He was 19 year and 2 months old, a Printer's Apprentice by trade and living at 47 Church Street, Harpurhey, Manchester at the time. Harold did his training with 3/2nd East Lancashire Field Ambulance and was then sent to serve with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, leaving the UK on 10th May 1916, he joined the Depot on 21st. On 2nd June he proceeded to join the 1/2nd East Lancashire Field Ambulance becoming attached the next day. He embarked, with a draft of men from the 1/2nd East Lancashire Field Ambulance, at Alexandria on 3rd March 1917, disembarking at Marseilles on the 10th, he joined the Depot at Etaples on the 13th. Leaving Etaples on the 18th he joined the Base Depot at Rouen two days later, then on the 10th April joined the 1/1st East Lancashire Field Ambulance in the Field. On 4th June 1917, Harold was admitted onto the 1/2nd East Lancashire Field Ambulance and sent to a Rest Station on the 12th. He was discharged back to his unit on the 5th July. On 15th March 1918, he was granted leave to Paris and also returned to the UK with leave on 11th November 1918. On 19th February 1919, Harold was admitted into No 55 Casualty Clearing Station suffering with influenza. He was discharged to hospital on the 2nd March and proceeded to England on the 4th April. He was disembodied from service on 8th May 1919, finally being discharged from the Army on 31st March 1920. Harold was the son of Cutherbert Hetherington of 47 Church Street, Harpurhey, Manchester.
