Other Information:Robert enlisted on 1909. He was 21 years and 7 months old, a painter by trade, and living at 14B Mount Street at the time. He embarked at Southampton on 20th April 1915, disembarking at Havre the next day he entered the war in France on 1st May. On 26th September 1915 he was promoted to Sergeant. Robert was admitted into No 30 Casualty Clearing Station on 14th July 1916 suffering with trench fever, and after several stays in various medical units finally rejoined his unit for duty on 19th February 1917. He was killed, along with 303091 Sjt James Alexander Russell, at 10.00 p.m. by a salvo which had been fired straight into the M.D.S. Robert was the son of James and Margaret Ledingham of 46 Richmond Street, Aberdeen.
