Other Information:William enlisted on 22nd April 1901. He was 19 years old; was a spinner by trade; and was living at 47 Lambeth Street, Blackburn, Lancashire at the time. He saw active service in South Africa, serving there from 9th December 1901 to 26th August 1904. He was transferred to Army Reserve on 2nd September 1904 but was reengaged into service on 10th February 1913, signing up for a further four years. He entered the war in France on 18th August 1914. William served with the 1st Field Ambulance throughout the war. He was discharged from the colours on 31st March 1920
