Other Information:

John enlisted on 3rd November 1917. He was 25 years and 5 months old; was a Plummer and gas fitter by trade; and was living at 20 Gibson Street, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire at the time. On 9th November he was posted to the 8th Training Battalion, then transferred to the 325th Field Ambulance at Beccles on the 1st January 1918. He embarked at Southampton on 6th November 1918, then disembarking the next day at Havre, he entered the war in France on 7th November 1918. From Havre he travelled to Etaples where he joined the R.A.M.C. Depot. Arriving on the 11th November, 2 days later he was posted to serve with the 1st Field Ambulance, joining them in the field on the 16th November 1918. On 25th May 1919 he was posted to serve with the 141st Field Ambulance. On 4th June 1919, he proceeded to No 1 Concentration Camp, Cologne for dispersal and was struck off the strength of the unit. Arriving back in the UK on 10th June, he was transferred to Class Z Reserves on 7th July 1919. He was the husband of Frances Jane Bailey.
