Other Information:

Cecil attested into the Royal Sussex Regiment on 10th October 1904. He was 18 years old; a gardener by trade and living in Tunbridge Wells, Sussex. He was also serving in the Militia at the time. Serving under the regimental service number 9361, he served in Malta from 27th September 1905 - 3rd March 1906, when he went to Crete, serving there until 10th March 1907. Cecil transferred to the R.A.M.C. on 9th October 1907. He was mobilized on 5th August 1914 and was attached to the 1st Field Ambulance. He disembarked on French soil on 18th August 1914. On 5th April 1916, he was posted to serve with No 3 Field Ambulance, in the field. On 26th May 1917, Cecil voluntarily transferred to the Army Service Corps - under the service number M/39356, he served with the 34th Divisional Motor Transport Company. Cecil died at No 29 Casualty Clearing Station from Influenza and heart failure. He was the son of W Arnold of Crowborough; and the husband of Edith Joyce Arnold (Nee Marlow) of 69 Pevensey Road, Eastbourne (Married on 17th November 1915.)
