Other Information:Frederick enlisted on 18th January 1912. He was 24 years old; was a coal miner by trade; and was living in Peterborough, Northamptonshire at the time. He entered the war in France on 18th August 1914 with the 1st Field Ambulance. However, according to a letter he wrote, he also served with the 21st Field Ambulance in Italy, and the 47th General Hospital in Rouen - around October 1917. His service record advises that he was appointed acting Corporal prior to 27th October 1915 but revered back to the rank of Private on 18th August 1916, having receive a gun shot wound to his left ankle. He was then re-appointed acting Corporal, with pay on 30th April 1917, reverting back to permanent rank of Private on 10th October 1917. On the 12th May 1918 he was again re-appointed acting Corporal, but without pay, then received promotion to Corporal on 1st January 1919. He was the husband of Ethel Mary Wilkinson [Nee Toop] of 131 Gatcliffe Road, Ebury Bridge Road, Chelsea, S.W.1 - married on 4th September 1915.
