Other Information:

Bertie lived in Dublin, his occupation was a Senior Clerk (County Court). He also served in the Second Boer War 1901 & 1902, receiving The Kings South Africa Medal for his service there. He entered the war in France on 13th September 1914, whilst attached to the 16th Field Ambulance. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When a dressing station was being shelled he supervised and helped with the evacuation of all the wounded, visiting all the tents and huts to see that they were clear under heavy shell fire. It was largely due to his initiative that 500 cases were removed without a single casualty." Bertie died in Acton Hospital and was buried on 15th October 1951 at St. Mary, Acton, London.
