Francis was educated at St James’ School, Longton, and became a Miner by trade. He enlisted on 12th August 1914, then entered the war in France on 7th October 1914. He died at his home from disease contracted whilst on active service. Francis was the eldest son of George and Sarah Ann [daughter of William Nickolls] Wright; and the husband of Martha Ann [daughter of Edward Whent] of 94 Normacot Road, Longton - married at Edenser Church, Longton on 13th February 1910. They had two daughters.
