Other Information:Henry enlisted on 23rd November 1908. He was 21 years and 10 months old, and he was a Musician by trade.
He entered the war in France on 16th August 1914 with the 4th Field Ambulance. His name appears on a list of R.A.M.C. personnel who were taken captive up to & including 31st December 1914. His address was given as Wickerisley Road, Lavender Hill, Battersea, London - (kindly provided by Steve Mattocks).
In the early hours of 26th August, the 4th Field Ambulance were ordered to go to Landrecies to treat and evacuate the wounded. A couple of hours after entering the town the Germans arrived, and Henry became one of 219 of the rank and file of the R.A.M.C. to be held captive there.
He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for devotion to duty whilst he was a prisoner of war.
He was repatriated on 7th January 1916, then he went back to the Western Front on 25th March 1916. He served there until 24th October 1918 when he returned to the U.K. He served in the U.K. until 27th February 1919. He was the son of Henry Charles and Elizabeth Felstead; and the husband of Edith Nellie Felstead.
