Other Information:Ralph enlisted on 5th August 1915. He was 23 years and 6 months old; an assistant teacher by trade; and was living in Park Cottage, Painswich, Gloucestershire at the time. He entered the war in France on 23rd November 1915. He was serving with the 2nd Field Ambulance on 11th July 1916 when he received a shrapnel wound to his right leg and was evacuated. He was admitted into a war hospital in Sheffield on 16th July, remaining there until 28th November 1916. He continued to serve in the UK until 18th September 1918 when he was transferred to Class “P” Army Reserve, so that he could resume his civil employment ad a school teacher.
