Other Information:Robert enlisted on 23rd January 1915. He embarked at Southampton on 26th May, then disembarking the next day in Rouen, entered the war in France on 27th May 1915. He was posted to the Assistant Director of Medical Services, Meerut Division on the 31st May, then transferred on 13th June to serve with the 2nd Field Ambulance. The unit received information from the GOC, III Corps, that he had been awarded him a Military Medal for gallantry on 13th October 1916. On 18th April 1918, when stretcher bearing, he was hit with a piece of shrapnel on his hip. He was admitted into the 141st Field Ambulance, then evacuated to 56 General Hospital via 23 Casualty Clearing Station and No 17 Ambulance Train. He arrived in England on 22nd April and hospitalized of 5 months. On 26th September 1918 he was posted to serve with the Southern Convalescent Depot int he UK. He was discharged from the army on 22nd October 1918.
