Other Information:John lived in Cappoquin. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy attack. He was in charge of bearers carrying wounded from regimental aid-posts. Under heavy fire he showed great coolness in organising his bearers, directing walking wounded and civilians, carrying up dressings and attending to wounded in the open. He worked untiringly, and did fine service."
