Other Information:John enlisted on 12th September 1915. He was 23 years old and a clerk by trade. After training he was posted to serve with the 112th Field Ambulance, and embarked with them at Southampton on 18th December 1915. He disembarked at Havre the next day, entering the war in France on 19th December 1915. On 23rd February 1916 he was admitted into his unit suffering with pleurisy. He was sent to No 10 General Hospital in Rouen, then on 7th March was sent to England on the Hospital Ship "St George". He died in the 1st Scottish General Hospital, Aberdeen of acute miliary tuberculosis with tubercular meningitis. He was the son of Alexander and Alice Henderson Whyte of "Seafield" Bamber Avenue, Bispham, Blackpool.
