Other Information:Sydney enlisted on 4th September 1915. He was 39 years old; was a Civil Servant by trade; and was living at 78 Brownlow Road, New Southgate at the time. He embarked at Devonport on 10th January 1916, with the 95th Field Ambulance, then disembarked at Alexandria on 23rd January, however, he re-embarked on 9th March and went to Marseilles, arriving on the 15th. On 30 March, he was admitted into No 29 Casualty Clearing Station and evacuated down the chain to No 1 General Hospital at Etretat, then onto No 4 Convalescent Hospital and remained there until 24th May 1916. On 31st May 1916, he joined Base Details at Rouen, then was eventually posted to serve with the 1st Field Ambulance. He joined them, in the field, on 21st June, and remained with them until he died from wounds received in action. Sydney was the husband of Beatrice Stedman of 39 Ringwood Road, Eastbourne.
