John attested on 3rd November 1915. He was 20 years and 90 days old; a Brick Maker by trade; and living at 23 Browing Avenue, Liddall, Yorks at the time. He joined the R.A.M.C. the same day at Sheffield, and was posted to "R" Coy. He entered the war in France on 2nd May 1916 and was posted to serve with the 19th Field Ambulance, in the field.
