Other Information:Philip lived in Virginia Water. He entered the war in France on the 11th August 1915, and is listed on a Roll of Members to the 141st Field Ambulance. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal whilst serving with the 102nd Field Ambulance: "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy bombardment. Though slightly gassed, he showed the greatest determination in evacuating cases from his post. On one occasion, while carrying the last of the wounded over a bridge, it was blown up under him, wounding him and killing two if his party." After the war Philip worked at the Holloway Sanatorium near Virginia Waters and later moved to Blackpool, Lancashire were he married Alice Devenport and had 5 children.
