Other Information:

Alfred qualified in 1887. He joined the Medical Services at the rank of Captain on 1st February 1890, then served in the Citral Campaign in 1895. He gained promotion to Major on 1st February 1902 and Lieutenant Colonel on 15th May 1912. Alfred was the Officer Commanding the 5th Casualty Clearing Station when the unit was first formed. He was promoted to Colonel on 1st March 1915. He was the husband of Jean Knox Wood - married in 1903.
