Edgar enlisted on 19th October 1915. He was 39 years and 231 days old; and was a woolsorter by trade. He first reported sick on 1st November, suffering from cardiac disease but continued working the next day. From the 4th November he complained of bronchitis but on the 9th did not report sick. He died during the night of 9th/10th and was found died in his bed at 6.00 a.m. he was the son of John and Louisa Knowles of Bradford, Yorks.
