Other Information:

George enlisted on 1st January 1913. He was 18 years and 10 months old, and was a Shoemaker by trade. He entered the war in France on 20th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column. He then transferred to serve with the 7th Field Ambulance. On 29th April 1916 he suffered a gunshot wound to his temple, affecting his eyesight. He was evacated back to the UK arriving on 10th May 1916. He served the remainder of the war in England and was discharged "no longer physically fit for war service" on 12th March 1919. He was the son of George Cook of Woods Batch Street, nr Glastonbury, and the husband of Margery Cook (nee Young) - married on 21st December 1918 at the Registry Office, Dartford, Kent.
