Bertie entered the war in France on 20th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 5th Divisional Ammunition Column. He died of of pneumonia. He was the son of Walter and Emily Agnis of Mill House, Mountnessing, Brentwood, Essex.
