Patrick enlisted on 1st December 1913. He was 18 years and 180 days old, and was a Town Labourer by trade. He entered the war in France on 12th September 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 24th Brigade. Royal Field Artillery. He served on the Western Front until 28th July 1918 when he returned to the U.K. In the U.K. he served with No 17 Coy. He was transferred to Section "B" Army Reserve on demobilization on 18th August 1919.
