Other Information:Edward enlisted on 27th August 1912. He was 18 years and 1 months old, and was a Quayman by trade. He is listed on the 1914 Medal Rolls as entering the war in France on 12th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 2nd Bn. Lancashire Fusiliers. However his service record states he "went out with 40 Coy, R.G.A. He returned to the UK on 23rd October 1914 and served the remainder of the war in the UK with No 11 Coy. On 29th August 1916 he was appointed acting Lance Corporal (unpaid), and on 23rd May 1917 he was appointed acting Serjeant (unpaid). He was transferred to Section 'B' Army Reserve on demobilization.
