Other Information:Michael was educated at Blackrock, Dublin, and at the National University of Ireland, where he graduated M.D. in 1903. He then held appointments at the Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary and at the Salisbury Hospital. Prior to joining up he was in practice at Neath, Glamorganshire. He was gazetted temporary Lieutenant in the R.A.M.C. on 20th November 1917, then went to France the following December, and became the medical officer, attached to the 1st Bn. Northamptonshire Regiment. He died from wounds received while attending the wounded near Peronne. The A.D.M.S. wrote: “We will mourn a gallant, cheery and brave comrade, who always did his duty.” Michael was the son of James (a Mill owner) and Margaret O’Flynn of Sixmile Bridge, co Clare; and the husband of Florence E (daughter of G H Davey) O’Flynn of 22 London Road, Neath - married at St Joseph’s Church, Neath on 2nd January 1910. They had four children.
