Other Information:James was educated at Summerfields, near Oxford; at Radley College; and at the London Hospital, qualifying M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. in the Autumn of 1911. Before joining up he was in practice at Iver, Bucks where he was medical officer to the local cottage hospital and to the Alexandra House Home for Feeble-Minded Girls. He volunteered for overseas service with the R.A.M.C., T.F. and was gazetted Lieutenant on 4th December 1915. He entered the war in France on 25th May 1916, then gained promotion to Captain on the 4th June. He was awarded the Military Cross "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations. He went up to the front line from his Aid Post through a very heavy barrage, in order to assist the wounded. By his pluck and still he undoubtedly saved many lives. He afterwards controlled the evacuation of casualties under heavy fire." He died in a casualty clearing station. James was the elder son of the late Rev. Studholme Wilson, formerly Rector of Millbrook, Southampton, and Helen Louisa - daughter of Samuel Rawlins; and the husband of Marjory, daughter of Thomas Ireland of Mossley Hill, Liverpool - married at St Michael's, Paddington on 3rd July 1912.
