Other Information:Robert was educated at Wellington College and was a student at St Bartholomew's Hospital - entering in 1881, he obtained the diplomas of L.S.A. and M.R.C.S. in 1885 and of L.R.C.P. in 1887. Robert entered the Army Medical Department as surgeon on 28th July 1886 and was attached to the 2nd Bn. Scots Guards as their medical officer from the 30th November 1887. He gained promotion to Surgeon Captain on 7th August 1891, then retired from service in 1898, He then moved to Cefn Mor, Penmaen, Glamorganshire, and was in practice there when war broke out. As an officer of the Reserve, Robert was re-employed from the 11th August 1914. Early in the war he was mentioned in despatches for valuable medical services. He had also been employed on recruiting duties at Whitehall. Robert died from illness contracted on active service. He was the son of Surgeon-General John Ashton Bostock, C.B., and his wife, Harriet.
