Other Information:

John enlisted into the Medical Staff Corps on 18th January 1898. He was 24 years and 2 months old, and was a Weaver by trade. He first saw active service in the South African War from 1899 to 1902, taking part in actions such as the Relief of Kimberly, Paardeberg, and Diamond Hill. He entered the war in France on 21st August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 1st Reserve Park. On 20th January 1915 he gained promoted to the rank of Corporal. He was discharged due the termination of his engagement on 17th November 1916, as well as having suffered impairment since entry into the Service. He was the husband of Mary Ann Elizabeth Stewart.
