Other Information:Ernest enlisted on 4th February 1915 and was embodied into the East Anglian Casualty Clearing Station, Territorial Force. He was 34 years old and was living at 35 John Street, Lowestoft at the time. He was promoted to acting Serjeant on 10th February 1915, then gained promotion to the rank of full serjeant on 30th June 1915, when he embarked on the "Royal Edward" at Devonport. He arrived at Alexandria on the 11th August, then set sail to Gallipoli the next day. Ernest's body was never found and was believed to have drowned on the sinking of H.M.T. "Royal Edward" on passage from Alexandria to Gallipoli. Son of Charles King Roberts and Emma Roberts, of 249 Foxhall Road, Ipswich; and the husband of Ethel Rose Roberts of Urchfont, Devizes, Wilts.
