George qualified M.D. on 20th July 1885 at the Royal University of Ireland. He took up a commission within the Army Medical Service a year later, on 28th July 1886, at the rank of Surgeon Captain. He gained promotions to the rank of Major on 28th July 1898 and Lieutenant Colonel on 28th July 1906. * He was Officer-in-Charge of the Military Hospital Dalhousie when he died.
