Other Information:At the rank of Staff Serjeant, Arthur entered the war in France on 14th August 1914 with No 2 Stationary Hospital. He gained a commission at the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster on 4th July 1916. Arthur transferred to serve with the 1st Field Ambulance. He was killed during the night by shell fire whilst asleep - the war diary stated his death was a great loss to the unit. Pte Lennox was also killed in this incident. Arthur was the husband of Maud Alice Holloman of 64 St Marys Road, Plaistow, E 13.
