Reginald was a student at St Bartholomew's Hospital from 1905, having been previously educated at Edinburgh and University College, London. He obtained the diplomas of M.R.C.S.[Eng.] and L.R.C.P.[Lond.} in 1911, and practiced in Clerkenwell. Reginald entered the war in France on the 15th August 1914, with a commission of Lieutenant and was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1915. He was the only son of Robert Drummond MacGregor and Margaret MacGregor of 88 Queens Gate, South Kensington, London.
