Samuel enlisted on 25th October 1915, and according to the CWGC also served with the 99th Field Coy. Royal Engineers in Egypt and Salonika. According to his medal card he was entitled to a Silver War Badge. The SWB record states that he was discharged on 17th April 1917 but by this date he had already died and the badge was returned. Samuel died in Christchurch, Dorset. He was the son of Henry and Eliza Louis Pearson, of 32, Provident St., Derby. (Information researched and kindly provided by Chris Ludlam)
