James entered the war in France on 29th September 1915. His Medal Index Card states he also served as 5805, with the Royal Sussex Regiment (No mention of the R.A.M.C.) His cause of death was gas. James was the son of James and the late Dorothy Lacey; and the husband of Isabela Lacey of 25 Elm Street, Hebburn Colliery.
