Samuel was married with a family and a Blacksmith by trade when he enlisted into the RAMC on the 6th April 1915. He entered France on the 5th December 1915. Samuel is known to have been invalided out due to sickness caused by gas poisoning. [Information and photograph kindly provided by Samuel's Grandson]
