Enlisted into the RMLI undersage in 1899, transferred to the RN in 1906 and was invalided out in 1907. He then volunteered for service in the RAMC at the beginning of WW1, serving through to the end. Was serving in Aldershot 19 June 1915 as stated on his 15 month old Daughters Death Certificate. MID for 1915 Star for 30794 Cpl (Howetson?) entered into the .(3) Egypt theatre of war on 3 July 1915. Mid for British and Victory Medals for 30794 Acting/WO1 Robert Hewetson. At the beginning of WW2, he volunteered again and was a member of the Admiralty Constabulary during the war period. He died in 1963 (Information passed on by his Grandson hewmergol on the GWF)
