Other Information:

Jack enlisted on 25th October 1915. He was 19 years and 2 months old; was a Printer by trade; and was living at Iona House, Cavendish Road, Merton, London SW19 at the time. He was posted to train with "T" Coy on 2nd November. On 11th April 1916 he embarked at Southampton, then disembarking at Rouen the next day, entered the war in France on 12th April 1916. He was posted to serve with the 1st Field Ambulance on 20th April and remained with them until he received a gun shot wound to the side and arm on 10th July 1917. He was admitted into the 90th Field Ambulance then evacuated back to No 1 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station. The next day he was transferred to No 13 General Hospital in Boulogne, then travelled via hospital ship to England on the 16th. On 28th March 1918 he returned to the war effort serving on the hospital ship "Guildford Castle". He returned to the UK on 17th January 1919, then was transferred to Class "Z", Reserve on 10th March 1919.
