Other Information:Jesse enlisted into the 1st Home Counties Field Ambulance, R.A.M.C., T.F. on 15th April 1908. He was 24 years and 6 months old; was a Labourer (cement) by trade; and was living at 4 Orchard Cottages Holborough at the time. He gained promotion to the rank of Corporal on 1st April 1910. He became one of a quota of N.C.O.’s and men, known as 'Special Reserve', who previously agreed to serve overseas in the event of a war. On 6th August 1914, he transferred from the 1st Home Counties Field Ambulance to serve with the Expeditionary Force, and marched alongside Captain Greene, and the detachment, to a field adjoining Monockton’s Mill, Sandling Road, Maidstone, which had become the mobilization headquarters of No 10 Field Ambulance. He entered the war with the 10th Field Ambulance on 23rd August 1914.
On 15th June 1915, he was admitted into No 4 Stationary Hospital suffering with Influenza, then returned to his unit on the 29th. On 6th August 1915 he was attached to provide medical aid to the 7th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, serving with them until the 25th April 1916, when he was sent to Base Details in Rouen. On 5th May 1916 he was transferred to England, then was disembodied on the expiration of service on 11th May 1916.
Jesse re-enlisted on 26th January 1922, his army number changing to 7339133. During this time he gained promotion to the rank of Serjeant. He was the husband of Daisy Caroline - married on 26th December 1912.
