Other Information:

James enlisted on 5th March 1912. He was 20 years and 8 months old, and was an Iron Moulder by trade. He entered the war in France on 13th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 2nd Bn. Coldstream Guards. On 23rd April 1916 he joined the 4th Field Ambulance in the field and was serving with them on 6th August 1917 when he received a shrapnel wound to his right shoulder. He was immediately evacuated to No 4 Casualty Clearing Station, then admitted into to No 55 General Hospital the following day. On the 14th August 1917 he was evacuated back to England on the hospital ship 'St David". He was admitted into the Southport Infirmary Hospital from 15th August 1917 to 6th November 1917, when he was transferred to the King's Lancashire Military Convalescent Hospital, Blackpool. He remained there until 12th March 1918. On 3rd May 1918 he was posted to serve with No 2 Training Battalion, R.A.M.C. in Blackpool, remaining there until July 1918, when he was posted to the War Hospital, Reading. On 31st December 1918 he was admitted into the hospital suffering from his wound. He was discharged on 28th February 1919 as "no longer physically fit" for service.
