John Edward Cattral. John wasn't just a Company Quarter Master Sergeant he was in-fact a Minister and after his training in Nottingham he went onto minister in Glasgow for 2 years then became one of our town's ministers, Bellshill in North Lanarkshire (area was formerly called the Bothwell Parish although actually several miles from Bothwell town) and also ministered in the neighbouring village of Holytown couple miles up the road. Although John was born in Shrewsbury and buried in Noyon New British Cemetery, he is in-fact remembered on both our Bellshill and Holytown's memorials. The Surman Index lists John as being born in Shrewsbury, all the details you know, then went on to do his ministerial training at Paton Congregational College in Nottingham and then came to Scotland to minister at Emmanuel in Glasgow 1909 - 1911 then came to be a Bellshill minister 1911 - 1914.
