George Henry Wilkinson CALVERT (known as Henry) was born in Bedlington, Northumberland on the 23rd February 1877. He was the son of Robert Calvert (1836-1912) and Susannah Foreman (1834-1895). Henry was a Coal Miner at Bedlington Colliery and one of three sons, his brothers were John G CALVERT and Robert William CALVERT (who also gave his life in WW1 with the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards private 10032 killed 29th September 1914 aged 26 years. Panel 11 Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial).
'Henry' was married to my great grandmother Frances Hare (1881-1918). They had two children Mary Elizabeth CALVERT born 10th September 1899 and Constance May CALVERT born 1906.
'Henry' CALVERT also lost 2 nephews and 2 brothers in law in WW1 as follows;
James Summers CALVERT 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers private 2659 killed in action 24th May 1915 in Flanders aged 22, commemorated at the Menin Gate.
Thomas Summers CALVERT Royal Navy Division 'Hawke' wounded in action at Gallipoli, Italy and died aboard hospital ship Dunluce Castle. buried at sea 9th September 1915 aged 18 years. Commemorated at Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent.
John HARE 12th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers private 10627. Killed in action on 27th September 1915 aged 39 years. Commemorated at the Loos Memorial.
Aaron HARE 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers private 777. Killed in action on 29th March 1918 aged 32 years. Commemorated at the Arras Memorial
