Albert photographed with a young Belgian girl. The photograph appeared in the Darwen News, July 3, 1915 with the following caption: "Photograph of Private Croft, who went out with the first Darwen ambulance men. The child is a Belgian and was discovered badly burned after the bombardment of a Belgian town. Not being accommodation for the youngest in the hospital, Private Croft took her under his own care and over several months has nursed her in his private apartments until she is fully recovered."
