I have an old recording he made in the 1960s when he referred to winning the Military Medal, and I believe it was in November 1918. He describes a canal which they crossed, probably Sambre on 4 November. He was always relating stories, many rather gory about his experiences in the war and died in January 1981. He was one of four brothers, all of whom served in France and all survived, although Grandad was badly wounded at Loos.
