James had 3 daughters - Bessie, Rena and Mary. There were 7 grandchildren. James died in 1962 and Mary the following year. His father John Thompson who was blind, died in 1960 and Betsy in 1961 . All were still living in Darwen. According to Rena, James was sent to Italy in 1917 and she had a photo of him and his pals taken in Venice. James worked in Hollins Mill and developed Parkinson's disease towards the end of his life.
