I have a document concerning my grandfather Ernest from 1911, a second class certificate of Education awarded by the Army council. 17th Company Royal Army Medical Corps. According to his pay book he enlisted in Leeds in 1908. He retired from the army in 1926 and returned to Leeds. For some years he worked as a caretaker at Leeds Medical School, then he had a job in a rolls Royce Factory. I never met my Grandfather, but I am very proud of his service.
[According to my mother, my grandfather lied about his age, so his birthdate in the log book is incorrect by 2 years. My Mom said he serviced an extra 2 years because the army found out, sadly I can't confirm this with her.]
