NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Saturday 1 September 1917
Roll of Honour. Mr & Mrs G Cabot of Bristol Villa, Georgetown have received a letter from Reverend E Hill of the 32nd Casualty Clearing Station, stating that their only son, Private George Alfred Cabot of the Royal Army Medical Corps, has been killed in action. The writer states that the family should feel proud in their loss as their son, as a stretcher bearer, often risked and eventually gave his life in seeking to save the wounded in No Mans Land. His body was in a dangerous place and lay in the open from 23 August to 27 August when his comrades were able to go out and bring him in, after which he was buried in Brandhoek Cemetery. The late gallant soldier, who was in his 27th year, was an old St Marks Boy and previous to joining up was a hairdresser at Mr Le Miere's establishment.
